Common questions about Opening Hour Display.
Opening Hour Display is a TRMNL plugin that shows your Google Business opening hours on your e-ink display. Install it once, connect your Google Business location, and your weekly schedule appears on your device automatically.
A TRMNL device and a Google Business profile with opening hours set up. That's it.
Install the plugin from the TRMNL plugin store. You'll be redirected to the plugin settings page where you can search for your business by name and city, then connect it with one click.
We use the Google Places API to read your weekly opening hours directly from your Google Business profile — the same hours your customers see on Google Maps.
Hours are automatically refreshed once per day, at local midnight in your store's timezone. If you need an immediate update after changing your Google Business hours, just re-save your location in the plugin settings.
Yes. You can choose between 12-hour (AM/PM) and 24-hour time formats, rename day labels (useful for non-English stores), and add a custom subtitle below the store name.
Day overrides let you replace any day's hours with a short custom message — for example "Closed — public holiday" or "Open until 10pm tonight". You can set overrides up to 7 days ahead, and they clear automatically once the date has passed.
The plugin refreshes automatically each night. If you update your hours on Google and need the display to reflect the change immediately, go to plugin settings and re-save your location — this triggers an instant refresh.
Both TRMNL OG (800×480) and TRMNL X (1040×780) are supported, and on each device all four layouts render correctly: full screen, half-vertical, half-horizontal, and quadrant. You can switch between layouts directly in your TRMNL device settings.
We store only the minimum required to run the plugin: your TRMNL access token, your Google Place ID, and your display preferences (timezone, time format, labels). We do not store your business hours permanently — only a nightly cache that is refreshed and discarded each day.
This is a solo-built project. For questions or bug reports, you're welcome to reach out via the TRMNL community forum or open an issue on GitHub.
